This morning I opened up my email and to my great pleasure, I found correspondence from an old friend.  Not just anyone in my past.  She is the person who directed my life toward the cross when I was lost and needing to know the Way.  Therefore, what she had to say was important to me.

She had actually read my website!  And she challenged me in several areas to re-think my position.  I hope for more dialogue on my “comment” section.  It is as valuable to have everyone grapple with issues, as it is to agree with me.  Well, maybe that’s a bit overstated!

One thing that needs to be clarified has to do with a post written about salvation and (what I call) the Great Transaction.  It was not my intention to insinuate that once we are born into the Kingdom the battle between the old nature (flesh) and the new nature (the Holy Spirit’s presence) ends. For many, this is only the beginning of untangling past sins, committed against us or of our own making.  It may take a long process for healing to occur, and the fight can be fierce.  Breaking old habits and overcoming lies and scars may have painful setbacks.  Broken hearts have only one healer.  His name is Jesus.  It is through Him and the ministry of His people, His Word and His power that we find ultimate victory.  We are not without hope.

Healing Life’s Hurts by Ed Smith may be helpful to those whose daily life is plagued with addiction, depression or sexual desires that do not honor God.  This is a prayerful approach which depends on the Faithful Rescuer who has opened up for many a door to recovery and the abundant life.

Indeed, we battle against our own pride and selfishness as long as we breathe.  So, we gather together to encourage and sharpen one another.  Go ahead:  make your comment and be a part of the worldview conversation!

I really like the way you have clarified your description of the our continuing battle to do the right thing. --untangling past sins etc. And how we battle continually forever our pride and selfishness!!!

A very good read on this one.
